30 Days Of Lists : List 11

Monday Madness - How to improve your mood

I was reading this article on how to improve your mood and it had some wonderful information. According to the article the skill of being able to put yourself in a good mood is called Positive Mind Conditioning. There are 5 key steps to increasing your motivation level, ambition and drive. these are: Step 1: One Thought At A Time

  • the next time a negative thought crosses your mind quickly think of a goal or enjoyable experience

  • randomly check in with your thoughts and see what kind of thoughts you are thinking pessimistic or optimistic and if they are negative do what's mentioned above and it will soon become a habit

Step 2 : Expect The Best

  • starting the day off with thoughts of succeeding increased your chances of a successful outcome

  • keep your eye on the goal, expect the best and stay positive

Step 3 : Stay Focused

  • think of goals and other ambitions many times a day, think specifically about what you want, and what you need to get out of this goal

  • constantly dwelling on the idea of getting what you want creates very strong ambition

Step 4: Change Your Thinking

  • following these steps can allow you to release your energy and really focus on the true wants and goals you have for yourself and your life

  • happiness is a choice not an automatic response

Step 5 : Persistence

  • persistent people achieve more

  • by disciplining yourself to work hard and achieve your goals you will have a new sense of self-esteem and self discipline, you will also find the strength to control your thoughts and lead a happier life

Visit ABCcreativity to learn more about setting weekly intentions and see the wonderful meditation.

According to Andrea: 'Setting a weekly intention is taking some time to pave the way for success, joy and dreams come true to find you throughout the week. This is not about setting goals or creating to-do lists and working your tail off to achieve them. This is about taking some time to be quiet and still and ask “What do I need this week?” and setting an intention from there to align yourself with that.'

I have been having a lot of really sad days these past few weeks. So, my intention for this week is to acknowledge when I am feeling sad and then consciously choose to do something to improve my mood.

I Choose

I came across this post I wrote back in September 2006. I think it's great that I still choose all these things in my life. I CHOOSE:

  • To live my life to the fullest every single day!

  • To follow wherever God asks me to go!

  • To love unconditionally!

  • To live with integrity!

  • To not be afraid anymore!

  • To be honest with those I love!

  • To show forgiveness!

  • To use my gifts to help others!

  • To matter. I am worth it!

  • To cross my lines and take that first step!

  • To allow my self to soar!

  • To reach all my dreams and goals!

DYNAMO: Team-Up Thursday : Food

You can find out about Team-Up Thursday here on the Mental inventory Blog . You can find the Team-Up Thursday Flickr pool here I am so very lucky to have paired up with the lovely and talented Kyla from The Kreative Life . The theme we chose for this week was food. We both took photographs representing the theme and now we are showing those photos in a diptych. I had fun with this week's theme. Food is not something I photograph often - plus, I got a trip to Red Lobster Out of it. My photo is on the left and Kyla's on the right.

30 Days Of Lists : List 5

Is It Genetic?

You know what really scares me? The fact that some day my girls may end up with some kind of mental illness. It absolutely terrifies me thinking that they may someday feel the things I feel. That they may hate who they are. I hate that I may have passed this to them. I find myself now overanalyzing everything they do and say watching for signs and probably reading to much into everything. I wouldn't wish this type of life on anyone ... especially them. I guess all I can do is wait and see what happens. In the meantime teach them to love themselves, and teach them about happiness. So hard to do though when I cannot love who I am and show them that love. So hard to do when I rarely feel happiness.

My intention for this week is to find peace in all that I can. To calm my thoughts and emotions and find peace within. To become aware of peaceful thoughts and peaceful situations around me.

Depression Help Video

Frustrated With Waiting

It's been about six weeks now since we found out what's wrong with my dad. In those six weeks I have changed so very much. I am constantly sad, I get angry easily, am just exhausted all the time, I'm having nightmares, I am back to not wanting to leave the house. I know that with the changes going on in our lives right now that my medications are not working for me anymore. I have spoken to my family doctor about it. Her answer was that I am on too many medications with high doses and she does not want the responsibility of making any changes. She referred me to a psychologist at the local mental health office. I have now been waiting a month for them to even call and say they got a referral to book an appointment. I am getting so frustrated. I know something has to be changed for I feel I am regressing with the depression, with the anxiety. Every day I am feeling worse. So frustrated that I need help and can't access it when I need it. So frustrated.

Straight Out Of The Camera Saturday (SOOC)

My Favorite Things Saturday

One of my favorite things is candles. Love the different scents, love watching the flame flicker. There is just something so peaceful about having a candle burning near me.
