2 Peas Thursday Blog Challenge

please feel free to join us if you blog.

Challenge for today~
What is something your thankful for....

The thing I am the most thankful for today is that the girls and I have a roof over our heads. Times are tough and money is tight, but at least I know everyday that the kids are warm and safe. I know that they have somewhere they can play and grow and learn. Someplace they can call their own.

Music

Have you ever watched the movie Runaway bride? I've been thinking about that movie all morning. You know the part where Graham asks Maggie about how she likes her eggs and the way she always liked the same kind of eggs as the man she was with at the time. She really didn't ever take the time to figure out how she liked eggs just for herself. I feel like that this morning. The house is way too quiet and I needed to put on some music. Nothing in my playlist was appeasing me. Then I got thinking about my playlist. I got thinking about the songs I've added and why I've added them to my playlist. I realized I am just like Maggie, I have different songs in my playlists from different times in my life when I've had different boyfriends. There is the Plain White T's from when I dated Cory, ACDC from when I dated Rob, James Blunt from Steve, Kid Rock from when I was with Gord. All these songs from my past that I really do love. But not really what I'd listen to just for me. When I really get down to it and think about the music I love just for me it really is a lot different from what I've been listening to the past few years. It's time to get back to discovering what I like - just for me. No more being what I think someone else wants.

2 Peas Wednesday Blogger Challenge

Challenge for today~
Is writing a form of self therapy?
Can be on your blog or a journal

For me writing is definitely a form or self therapy, sometimes even a form of healing. I am able to express myself the truest when I write. What I write comes from the heart, often putting down what's in my heart onto paper helps me to sort things out or see situations in a new way. I blog and I journal for me two wonderful ways to share pieces of what's in me. Whether I share something on my blog or in my journal often depends on the topic and how private it is to me. Writing is so freeing - it allows me to really be myself. Sometimes I don't know what I'd do if I wasn't able to write down what's going on for me. Sometimes it's a deep driven need inside me to get it all out. Writing is the best way I know how.

Teaching my girls photoshop

The last few days thew girls and I have sat down to play in photoshop. The kids wanted to make their own birthday party invitations this year and they were so excited when I told them we could do them on the computer. I honestly thought that photoshop would be way too advanced for them, but oh my did they ever pick it up quickly.
Here's the invitation Emily made with help from Mommy:
And this is the invitation Amber made almost all by herself.

Emily liked making her invitation so much she wanted to make a page to put into an album of her favorite star from tv. She did this one almost completely alone.

Boy, these two sure do surprise me sometimes with what they can do. It was so very much fun sharing this love of mine with them. It's so neat seeing them create.

2 Peas Thursday Blogger Challenge

today's challenge is Why do you write/blog?

funny, I just wrote about this very topic in my journal last night. Here's what I wrote:

"feeling the movement of my pen is such a freeing feeling. love the flow, the movement, the feeling of every aspect of putting my thoughts and feelings down onto paper. Sometimes it feels like I can think clearer when I am putting down my thoughts and feelings. somehow feels like I can speak through my words what's in my heart. let's me be me."

One Little Word #39 - Listen

The blog One Little Word is fantastic. Was looking through all the past words and they are great page starters. Word #39 is Listen. Here's the page I came up with:

journaling reads: the absolute coolest thing in this entire world is when I take the time and stop to listen to the giggles of my little girls. When they giggle you can hear the love they have for each other.
